Charities and businesses across Kent can raise funds for their favourite cause in the KM Dragon Boat Race.

The annual event is unusual as 100 per cent of the sponsorship funds raised by teams goes to the cause of their choice. Last year’s event raised £75,000 for charity and attracted 38 teams.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team said: “This is the perfect team building event for businesses who want a challenge with a charitable twist. For good causes, this will be one of the biggest fundraising events of the year. Last year some teams raised more than £5,000 for charity.”

The big race takes place on the first Sunday in July at Mote Park, Maidstone. Crews of 11 take part in three heats during the day with the fastest invited to compete in the finals at the end of the day.

Three Medway teams have already signed up to support the Oliver Fisher Baby Trust – a trebling of the involvement from the charity, as well as crews from Kent Reliance banking services and Medway Youth Trust, but places are still available.

To make it more affordable, captains should use the discount code KMDB15 to reduce the registration fee by £50 when booking online at www.kmcharitychallenge.co.uk

Medway businesses interested in becoming a corporate sponsor of the KM Dragon Boat Race should contact Mr Dolby on 07989 164 752 or sdolby@thekmgroup.co.uk
