The experts in eye care were joined by educational charity the KM Charity Team for a roadshow promoting the KM Colour Run to families in shopping centres across the county.

Staff and volunteers greeted visitors and enthused about the annual 5K fun run which has the motto ‘start white, end bright’. Participants don souvenir white KM Colour Run t-shirts - included in the booking price - and are covered in coloured powder at a number of stations along the route.

Specsavers are key partners of the event, which is being staged on Sunday, June 10, enabling a discount on tickets for adults when booking online. Use the code SpecsaversVIP when visiting kmcharityteam.co.uk/booking

The KM Colour Run is not a race and so will not be timed – the emphasis is on getting active whatever your ability and enjoying the day while helping a charity close to your heart. Participants can opt to walk, jog, or run the course making it suitable for all the family.

Last year’s event attracted more than 500 participants and raised £23,000 for good causes.

The roadshow was organised by the KM Charity Team and visited nine Specsavers stores including Ashford, Canterbury, Chatham, Dover, Folkestone, Gravesend, Maidstone, Ramsgate, and Sittingbourne.

Matt Trusty, Specsavers Kent chairman, said: “We are so proud to support the KM Colour Run - it is just such a fun event – and we are very much looking forward to plastering everyone in coloured powder paint.

“If you have a charity you are passionate about, why don’t you take part?”

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team said: “I hope that many of the people we met will have been persuaded to take part in the KM Colour Run, and use it to raise money for their favourite good cause.

“It’s a hugely popular event, lots of fun, and a great way for the whole family to get active together - whether they’re walking at their own pace or running the whole route.”

Participants can raise sponsor money for any cause of their choice with a small slice of the funds going towards child literacy projects in Kent and Medway.
