Six million people will begin receiving an extra £150 from this week as cost of living payments continue to reach cash-strapped households.
Households claiming certain disability benefits are the latest to receive extra help from the government.
Last month more than eight million households were given an extra £301, including those claiming monthly Universal Credit.
The £150 payments are being made automatically over a two week period between Tuesday, June 20 and Tuesday, July 4.
It is the second £150 disability cost of living payment to be sent out by the Department for Work and Pensions. The first was issued in September 2022 – to recognise that those with a disability can often face higher costs as they pay for care or other necessary equipment.
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Mel Stride MP, said: “This payment helps protect those who need our support the most, providing a vital financial boost to six million disabled people.”
Who can claim the £150 help?
You may be entitled to a Disability Cost of Living Payment of £150 if you’re getting any of any of the following benefits:
Attendance Allowance
Constant Attendance Allowance
Disability Living Allowance for adults
Disability Living Allowance for children
Personal Independence Payment
Armed Forces Independence Payment
War Pension Mobility Supplement
Claimants must also have received a payment of one of these benefits for April 1, 2023 in order to qualify for the additional £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment.
While the vast majority of people, the DWP says, will be paid their £150 automatically in the upcoming two-week window, anyone who thinks they are owed extra money but doesn’t receive it can report a missing payment from July 5 onwards.
