Fears over 'big cat' stalking wildlife on Romney Marsh

The grim discovery of a mutilated animal corpse has sparked fear a 'big cat' predator is roaming Romney Marsh.

Victoria Storey posted these photographs while she was out walking her dog Lourde yesterday morning.

At first she thought the animal was a sheep but now believes it could even be a deer.

Her post on Facebook has led to people speculating and retelling the stories that Romney Marsh's big cat stalker is on the prowl again.

She said: "Its huge as well so whatever's had this b****r is big! I'm sure I saw something black with creepy eyes looking at me from up in the trees yesterday evening [Monday] on our walk up there.

"My Lourde finds and smells anything and everything within a mile of his little nose.

"That's been dragged there and by the looks of it half has been clean cut in half!

"It's ripped apart and this bit looks like it's been put here hidden for later dins dins!"

Others commented suggesting it could have been poachers.

But Victoria added: "That's what I thought first but it couldn't because if someone was out poaching they ain't going to leave the best part of their kill hidden in bracken down the lane.

"It doesn't make sense and most go for the boars anyway.

"No this ain't people's work. This is real big animal hunting stuff."

Stories have been prominent on the Marsh for several years about the infamous 'Marsh lynx'.
