The vehicles - a VW Transporter, a Dodge Caliber and a Ford S-Max - were parked in Queens Road, when they were destroyed overnight between July 18 and 19.

Smith, of Chilton Place, Ash, appeared in court via video link with HMP Elmley in Sheppey.

Sentencing was adjourned until the week commencing November 6 for the preparation of probation and psychiatric reports.

Phil Rowley, defending, told Judge Simon Taylor KC that Smith has a history of anxiety and depression, and had been "unsuccessfully" seeking help in the community "immediately prior" to the arsons.
