Man in his 60s seriously injured in assault in Princes Drive, Sandwich Bay

A man in his 60s was airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious head injuries in a brutal assault in Sandwich Bay.

Officers were called to Princes Drive at 12.10pm yesterday, and the badly injured man was taken to a London hospital by the air ambulance.

Police said the victim had been driving a silver Ford Focus along the road and stopped to speak to a pedestrian prior to the attack.

A 37-year-old man from Deal has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed until June 22 pending further inquiries.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Shelah Thompson thanked witnesses who have already come forward.
