THIEVES have got away with a cash machine in a ram-raid at a supermarket in Kent.

They used what the police are describing as "heavy machinery" to smash through the wall at the Co-op store in Moat Sole, Sandwich, and remove the machine.

The incident happened just after 3am on Saturday, and it has not yet been revealed how much money was in the machine at the time.

It was the second ram-raid in East Kent within a week. Early on Monday last week, thieves used a silver-coloured 4x4 and two dark estate cars when they demolished part of the shop front at the One Stop Store at Whitfield, near Dover, and took the cash machine.

Police have appealed for witnesses to either of these incidents, or anyone with information, to contact them on 01304 240055.
