Dom and Steph Parker from Gogglebox welcomed Ukip's Nigel Farage to their Sandwich home.

They all like a drink, so Gogglebox's Dom and Steph Parker unsurprisingly got on like a house on fire with Ukip leader Nigel Farage.

The politician - who is the prospective parliamentary candidate for Sandwich - was invited to the couple's home in the town for a TV special.

He met the perpetually-tipsy duo for a drinking session ahead of filming for the Gogglebox spin-off, which is due to be aired next week.

The evening was said to be a "rip-roaring" affair, with Farage even being forced to borrow a pair of Dom's jeans after spilling his drink.

The episode will be part of the At Home with Steph and Dom documentary special, which will see the pair, known as the "posh couple from Gogglebox," open their plush B&B The Salutation to famous guests.

It will follow Farage on a wine-fuelled evening with the couple, where "chaos ensues" and the wannabe MP is "grilled like never before".

Channel 4's deputy chief creative officer Ralph Lee said: "We are to delighted to give viewers the chance to hang out with Steph and Dom outside the frame of Gogglebox and to see what they make if their high profile dinner guest.

"We see Steph and Dom in their usual habitat, cracking open the drinks cabinet, clinking glasses and being as opinionated as ever – but this time we watch them change the format of the classic televised interview."

Meanwhile, Farage has been embroiled in his latest controversy today after saying that mothers who breastfeed in public should do so as long as it is not in an "ostentatious" manner.

His comments, made in a radio interview today, came after he was asked for his thoughts about a mother who was asked to cover up her baby with a napkin by staff at Claridges hotel in London.

He said: "I’m not particularly bothered about it, but I know a lot of people do feel very uncomfortable, and look – this is just a matter of common sense, isn’t it?

"I think that given that some people feel very embarrassed by it, it isn’t too difficult to breastfeed a baby in a way that’s not openly ostentatious."

Steph and Dom meet Nigel Farage will air on Channel 4 on Monday, December 15.
