M26: Police appeal after fatal crash on M26 near junction 2a for the M20 motorway

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal motorway crash.

At around 6.50pm yesterday officers were called to the M26 close to junction 2a, on the carriageway in the direction of the M20.

A silver Peugeot 206 was reported to have left the road and crashed into a wooded area on a grass verge.

Officers and ambulance crews attended the scene and the driver, a man aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was from the Hampshire area and his next of kin has been informed.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the Peugeot being driven immediately beforehand.
