A driver is still at large despite a police search involving one of the force's helicopters.
Officers tried to pull over a speeding car on the A224 at Halstead at 11pm yesterday, but the vehicle failed to stop.
The car was lost and the police helicopter assisted in the search.
Enquiries are on-going to find the vehicle and identify the driver.
