Keith Andrews , from Sevenoaks and Malcolm Wager of Oxted will represent Mercedes-Benz Tonbridge in UK final of MercedesTrophy

Driving of a different kind is set to occupy the minds of two Mercedes-Benz customers from Kent next week when they compete in a national golf final.

Keith Andrews, from Sevenoaks, and Malcolm Wager, who lives in Oxted, will be representing Lookers Mercedes-Benz of Tonbridge in the UK final of the MercedesTrophy at the home of golf – St Andrews in Scotland.

The trio qualified for the event after winning their respective handicap sections at Lookers’ golf day at Knole Park Golf Club in Sevenoaks. They then finished third as a team in the competition’s southern semi-final at New Zealand Golf Club in Surrey.

They will also be joined by a customer of the group’s Eastbourne dealership.

Malcolm Wager is hoping that it will be a case of third time lucky as he has qualified for St Andrews on two previous occasions.

The four-night trip includes accommodation at the famous Old Course Hotel, 54 holes of golf over three courses and a gala prize-giving dinner at Glamis Castle.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have experienced this on more than one occasion and, whilst it would have been nice to have won" - Mr Wager

The top three individual golfers in Scotland will go forward to represent Mercedes-Benz UK in the World Final in Germany in September 2015 against players from more than 50 countries.

Mr Wager, who is a member of Tandridge and Wisley Golf Clubs said: “It’s a fantastic competition to be part of in terms of the organisation and hospitality provided by Mercedes-Benz as well as the golf and the sporting camaraderie amongst all the players.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have experienced this on more than one occasion and, whilst it would have been nice to have won. It has meant that I have been able enter the tournament, return to St Andrews for a third time and try again.”
