Long delays on A21 near Sevenoaks following crash

A crash caused lengthy delays on a major stretch of trunk road today.

The collision happened on the A21 south-bound between the A25 and A225 near Sevenoaks at around 9.40am.

National Highways confirmed police were called and one of two lanes was closed.

There were four-mile queues and 45 minutes of delays.

A police spokesman said: “Officers left the scene at around 12.45pm.

“They attended a report of a car colliding with the central reservation of the coastbound A21 Sevenoaks bypass. Officers along with other emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.40am.

“The carriageway was closed in order to assist with recovery and road clearance.”

A fire service spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 9.52am to assist SECAmb following reports of a crash on the A21 near Sevenoaks.

“One fire engine attended, and crews helped to make the scene safe.”

As of 2.30pm, the vehicle had been recovered and the lane reopened.
