Long queues on M26 near Sevenoaks after car catches fire

A vehicle was destroyed in a fire on the M26 today.

Crews were called to the Kent bound carriageway near Sevenoaks at around 4pm.

Firefighters put out the flames using a high-pressure hose, but unfortunately the vehicle was destroyed. There are no reports of any injuries the delay.

National Highways closed the road between junctions 1 and 2a.

A spokesman for the body said: "Traffic was held on the M26 eastbound while the fire service responded to a vehicle fire.

"All lanes are now open."
