A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a bottle of champagne from a new Waitrose store in Sevenoaks.

The 38-year-old man was arrested after police officers who were filling up their car on London Road were called to the shop in the High Street just after 4.15pm.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The man from the Bromley area was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from the Waitrose store."

He has been bailed until Tuesday July 22 pending further inquiries.
