Edenbridge and District War Memorial Hospital gets donation of ultrasound machines

Two new community orthopaedic clinics can be created in Edenbridge after the Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s physiotherapy service received a donation of two portable ultrasound machines.

The machines, valued at £40,000, were the gift of Edenbridge and District War Memorial Hospital League of Friends.

From January, the physiotherapy practitioners at the Edenbridge and District War Memorial Hospital in Mill Hill will be able to have their consult, diagnose and refer or prescribe to their patients all at one visit, saving repeat appointments and travelling time.

Jo Naismith, the chairman of Edenbridge League of Friends, said: “We are thrilled. The scanners are portable and of the newest design and will greatly enhance the scope and delivery of services locally. We are truly grateful to the generous donations of the local community and other supporters, which made this possible.”

Jayanti Rai, an advanced physiotherapy practitioner at the hospital, said: “I am excited about the new clinics this equipment will offer for the people of Edenbridge and for our services at our community hospital. This generous donation gives the trust an opportunity to improve patient experience, and waiting times for diagnosis and treatment in Edenbridge.”
