Sevenoaks looks to seal in safety with new 30mph limits

Motorists will have to drive a little slower through one part of Kent from now on.

New 30mph speed limits have come into force on three roads between Sevenoaks and Seal.

The new limit is a reduction from the previous 40mph limit and was sought by Sevenoaks Town Council.

Georgie Elliston, for the town council, said: “This is a much-welcomed change, with the lowered speed equalling safer streets for Sevenoaks and Seal residents, and safer roads for all users.

“To reinforce the new speed limits, two 30mph banners have been erected by the Town Council in collaboration with Kent County Council, with one having been hung at the entrance to the Greatness Park cemetery, and another on a verge on Seal Road.”

The new limit applies along the entire length of Ash Platt Road; in Highlands Park from its junction with Ash Platt Road to a point seven metres west of the boundary of 7/8 Highlands Park; and in Seal Road from its junction with High Street to a point 95 metres west of its junction with Pinewood Avenue.
