Traffic was said to have come to a standstill on part of the M25.
A rolling road block was in place due to an unknown 'incident' just before Junction 5 of the M26/A21 turn-off for Sevenoaks, Royal Tunbridge Wells, and Hastings.
Queues began forming at around 4.30pm and at one stage stretched back all the way to Junction 6 A22 B2235 (Godstone).
It is understood traffic began to return to normal at around 5.30pm.
