Online auction to help Sheerness girl Florence Whitelock's battle with cancer

A £200 car service and £50 tattoo voucher are just two of the items up for grabs to raise money for an tot battling cancer.

The online auction, which will run for a week from Sunday, April 23, has been organised by Stacey Whitelock, the aunt of one-year-old Florence Whitelock who has a rare type of cancer.

Florence’s parents, Louissa and John Whitelock, of Coronation Road, Sheerness, were given the devastating news in February after eight weeks of assessments at Medway Maritime Hospital.

They were told she had neuroblastoma resulting in a tumour the size of two tennis balls on her left lung pushing on her heart and windpipe.

Florence was admitted to London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital where she started a series of chemotherapy.

The aim is to shrink the tumour so it is small enough to be surgically removed.

Mum Mrs Whitelock, 26, said: “We got Flo’s MRI results at the beginning of this month and our little princess is on the mend.

“The chemotherapy is working and has made her tumour shrink a lot.

"A few more rounds of chemo and hopefully it will be safe enough for her to have the operation.

“But because the tumour is around her main artery they might not be able to cut it out.

“They may have to shrink it and leave it and then just monitor it because it’s far too risky to touch – time will tell.”

She added: “She’s taking it all in her stride though. She’s still her normal, happy self.”

Since her diagnosis, Florence’s family have been trying to raise £5,000 for equipment and toys for the hospital.

Now they are holding an auction to raise money to pay off the final amount of the Whitelocks’ holiday to Disneyland Paris, which is booked for October.

Any funds left over will be changed into euros for spending money.

Anyone wanting to donate an item to Florence’s auction should contact Stacey Whitelock via Florence’s Fundraising Auction Page on Facebook.
