Fridge fire in Trinity Road, Sheerness

Office workers had to be evacuated on the Isle of Sheppey today when a fridge burst into flames.

Firefighters were called to a three-storey commercial building in Trinity Road, Sheerness, just after 11am today.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "When fire crews arrived all staff had been safely evacuated from the building."

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high-pressure hose reel jet to put out a fire in an industrial fridge in the basement and cleared smoke using a special positive-pressure fan.

The blaze was out by 11.30am.
