Dozens of hats, gloves, scarves and mittens have been donated to charity by a group of keen craftswomen.

Members of the Sheppey KnitWitz have been working hard following a donation of wool from Rushenden-based firm Deramores.

The clothing they have been making was handed over to UK Homes 4 Heroes, based in Broadway, Sheerness, on Tuesday.

It is to support the thousands of ex-servicemen and women who are homeless.

Director Simone Dowse said users of the charity would ‘wear the donations with
pride’.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to the Sheppey KnitWitz,” she said.

“We are very grateful.

“It’s so nice when people have spent their time doing something that’s made with love.

“It goes a long way and we have been so well supported by local people which is really nice.”

The KnitWitz club meets every Tuesday at Sheppey Healthy Living Centre off Royal Road, Sheerness, from 9am to 11.30am for knitting and a chat.
