Queenborough: Officer taken to hospital after driver failed to stop and rammed police car

A police officer was taken to hospital after a car failed to stop and then rammed a police vehicle.

In the early hours of this morning, officers on patrol requested the car to stop in North Street, Sittingbourne.

However, it failed to do so and a police pursuit began.

At about 12.45am, the car being pursued rammed a police car in Queenborough Road, Queenborough, before fleeing.

Officers deployed a stinger, which brought the car to a stop, and following an area search the vehicle was found in Second Avenue, Rushenden. The driver had left the scene.

One police officer sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say inquiries to locate the driver are ongoing.
