Creative schoolchildren were excited to receive a reply from Buckingham Palace after they sent off stamps they had designed to the Queen.

Children in Beech Class at St George’s primary in Minster have been studying the local area as a topic and were looking at the village post office as part of this.

They were tasked to write a letter and then were asked to design their own stamps complete with pictures of Her Majesty.

Class teacher Tracy Adlam and teaching assistant Teresa Issitt were so impressed with the artwork, they decided to photocopy the images and send them to London along with the pupils’ names and ages.

Within a week, they had got a reply from one of the Queen’s assistants.

Mrs Adlam said: “It made Beech Class’s day – they were all very bubbly and excited.

“The letter thanked them very much and said the Queen had looked at the pictures and enjoyed them very much and expressed her warm wishes to Beech Class and St George’s school.”
