Two arrested on suspicion of drug supply after police stop-check car on Sheppey

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of drug supply after police stop-checked a car on Sheppey.

Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle in Jenkins Hill, Eastchurch, at about 6.30pm on Sunday.

A 22-year-old woman from Sheerness and a 25-year-old man from Streatham, south London, were subsequently taken to Sheerness Police Station, in Millennium Way, to be searched.

Officers found what was believed to be a quantity of class a drugs on the woman, and a large amount of cash and two mobile phones on the man.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and also on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Both remain in police custody while inquiries continue.
