The Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club are celebrating another world title success.

Club members Dan Norman and crew Jess Day clinched the Dart 18 Catamaran Sailing World Championship in France on Friday.

The win comes six years after Norman, from Gillingham, won the same title alongside crew Mel Rogers.

Victory was all the more impressive as Norman and Day had only trained together for several hours before the competition began.

Norman said: “This year was going to be tricky as I had a new crew but Jess sailed a blinder and it all came together.”

Minster-based Day stepped in to replace Rogers, who opted to take a year out.

“I asked around at the club to see if anyone else would step in and Jess agreed,” said Norman.
