A four-part television drama which features footage shot in Sittingbourne, will be broadcast tonight.

Southcliffe will be shown on Channel 4 at 9pm with the second episode showing at the same time tomorrow.

Scenes were filmed at Sittingbourne police station, JK Hair in the High Street, Teynham Court Farm as well as a house in Avent Walk, Bapchild. But it’s Faversham which takes centre stage, representing Southcliffe, an English market town devastated by a spate of shootings which take place over a single day.

Filming took place over a couple of months. The KM Group’s Whitstable office also became one of the locations for the drama, with the news editor, reporters, sub-editors and advertising team based there all appearing as extras alongside the stars of the show.

The drama hit the headlines earlier this year when residents in Stonebridge Way mistook filming for a real life crime scene on their doorsteps.

It is thought the filming brought £500,000 into the local economy.

The stars include Skyfall and Quantum of Solace star Rory Kinnear, Sean Harris, who played Fifield in the Ridley Scott’s sci-fi film Prometheus, and Shirley Henderson, who played Jude in Bridget Jones’s Diary and Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Southcliffe is a Warp Films production, like This is England and feature films such as Tyrannosaur and Submarine.

The series was written by BAFTA winner Tony Grisoni and directed by 2011 winner of the Sundance Film Festival Directing Award, Sean Durkin.
