Emergency services help release man from car following crash in St Michael's Road in Sittingbourne

Firefighters had to help release a trapped man following a car crash in Sittingbourne town centre.

They received the call just after midday today to St Michael's Road, just yards from the town's fire station.

Two cars had crashed, leaving one man in his 50s trapped because of his injuries.

Firefighters removed the back seats of the car before handing him to paramedics, who put him into an ambulance.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a possible neck injury.

They used jaws of life, hydraulic spreaders, rams and cutting tools to release him and were there for about half an hour.
