House in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, damaged in fire

A fire damaged a house in Sittingbourne this morning.

Crews from Faversham were called to Rock Road at just before 10.50am after the blaze broke out in a first-floor bedroom.

Emergency crews were alerted when neighbours noticed smoke seeping out of the windows.

A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue said the cause was still being investigated.

Teams wearing breathing apparatus spent an hour dousing the flames.

No one was injured but the building suffered significant damage from fire and smoke.

Police closed the road briefly while firefighters got to work.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
