Kemsley Fields play park near Sittingbourne is due for its official opening after years of delay.

After years of delay, children will soon be able to use the play area in Kemsley Fields, Sittingbourne.

Problems with subsidence and rubble under the site delayed the opening by seven years, but developers tackled these problems and the Council has moved quickly to get the work commissioned.

Roger Truelove, county councillor said: “There have still been problems over the last year which the local borough councillor Mike Whiting has worked hard to resolve.”

During the delay, the council spent time speaking to children about what they’d like to see in the play area.

Further delays regarding the provision of specialist equipment for disabled children were resolved when an extra £6,000 was added to the budget.

Mr Truelove added: “I really hope the equipment provided is what the children wanted and the families on this estate will get a lot of pleasure from them.”

Mike Whiting, Kemsley Councillor said: “We had hoped it would be open for last year’s summer holidays but it just never was. It should be open the end of this week though, if not, the end of next week.”
