Coast-bound M2 slip road to Stockbury Roundabout A249 reopens after lorry overturns

A slip road has reopened after a lorry overturned.

It happened coming off the coast-bound M2 towards the A249 Stockbury Roundabout at 3.02pm.

Police had shut the junction.

According to Highways England's traffic map, the queues are stretching back more than half-way to Junction 4 for Gillingham.

Firefighters from Sittingbourne assisted with a diesel spill by placing down absorbent pads.

Crew manager Kev Ford said: "It's quite a bend and it had tipped over.

"When we got there, the carriage had gone down the bank into some trees."

He added that the recovery effort was likely to take place this evening.

A police spokesman added: "No serious injuries are believed to have been reported."

The road reopened at 3.40pm.
