This new addition to a well-known town centre statue has sparked confusion.
A fake woman's head was added to the bargeman in Sittingbourne High Street and was spotted by residents yesterday morning.
It is not yet known what happened or who put it on there.
The addition was taken off by lunchtime and a child was spotted with it in the street.
It resembles papier-mache heads worn on stage by the Canadian band Arcade Fire.
