Racist slogans painted in Sittingbourne park

Vile racist slurs have been daubed all over a bridge in Milton Creek Country Park, Sittingbourne.

Terms including, “I [heart] killing Muslims” and “F*** the immagrants [sic]” as well as swastikas, were scrawled over a bridge in the park.

The slogan, “white pride worldwide” was also drawn - a reference to a neo-Nazi movement.

The graffiti was seen by Canterbury College student Luke Dower when he was walking through the recreation area yesterday afternoon.

The 17-year-old, from Kemsley, immediately took pictures of the offensive words and contacted the council about getting the writing removed.

He said: “I was walking past the bridge in the park when I saw it.

“It’s in bright white lettering so it stands out - not something you could miss.

“It’s very serious - if kids walk past and that people can take extreme offence to it.

“I’d like to see it fully investigated by the police.”

A spokesman for Swale council, which is responsible for maintaining the park, said the writing is due to be painted over today.

He added: “As the offensive graffiti is on a Kent Highways structure, our colleagues there are dealing with clearing this up.

“We had hoped to be able to be able to remove it ourselves for a quick result as we try to clear offensive graffiti within 24 hours, but as it’s on the beams under the bridge it’s too high to get the chemicals on there that loosen it up to spray off, so Kent Highways is painting over it instead.”

Police have not confirmed if they are investigating the incident.
