The police helicopter was searching for a man who ran off from his vehicle after a police chase.

The driver ran away from police in the Keycol area of Newington at about 10am after officers tried to stop his vehicle in Mill Way, Sittingbourne.

A large number of police cars, marked and unmarked, were also in the area searching for the man.

The driver ran off after abandoning his vehicle in Rook Lane, Bobbing, near Keycol Hill.

A police spokesman confirmed the vehicle failed to stop when officers requested it to do so.

He added: "The man was not located and inquiries to establish his identity are ongoing."
