Lorry stopped on M2 at Stockbury and five taken to immigration centre

A lorry has been pulled over by police on the M2 near Junction 5 following reports people were inside.

Three adults and two children have been taken to immigration services.

Philip French, 52, saw the whole drama unfold: "We were going along and saw an arm waving out the back of the truck which seemed to have a scarf around it.

"I wasn't the only one who noticed it, and me and this other car decided to help.

"I went in front of the lorry and slowed right down and he went to the side and we forced him off the road to the side near the Stockbury Roundabout of the M2.

"The driver was a Czechoslovakian man and seemed rather sheepish.

"There was a family inside who said they were from Syria and got on the truck in Belgium."

It was reportedly around 10 minutes before police arrived and took the family to immigration services and the driver in for questioning at around 12:30pm.
