Remains of Alfred Ripley, who had links to Faversham, found in Lomas Road, Murston, Sittingbourne

A man whose decomposed body was discovered in Sittingbourne has been identified.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of Alfred Ripley, who had links to the Faversham area.

The 37-year-old's remains were discovered by tree surgeons clearing land off Lomas Road, Murston last week. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Ripley, who was on Kent Police's "most wanted" list, was the subject of a major search in August when he failed to report to Sittingbourne police station to answer bail.

The force's helicopter was called in to help, but he was never found.

Following the discovery last Friday, it was initially feared the remains were those of missing Sittingbourne roofer Matthew Green who has not been seen since April 2010.
