A range of local-interest books and souvenirs will be on sale.

As an added attraction for visitors, the Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne will be there with its new touchscreen Roll of Honour in memory of the men of Sittingbourne and the surrounding area who died during the First World War.

Anyone who has a family story to tell is welcome to pass on the information to members so it can be added to the database.

A number of artefacts relating to Milton’s past will also be on display, but the main purpose of opening the medieval building is to show how much work is needed to restore the 460-year-old building before it can open again as a museum.

Estimates indicate it will cost between £20,000 and £30,000.

Back in September, when the hall was opened as part of the National Heritage Open Days scheme, almost 500 visitors came.

The Friends are hoping to better that figure this time.

A planning application has already been submitted to Swale council seeking approval for repairs to the roof, internal and external walls and internal floor plus the installation of a handrail to the staircase.
