The name for the new speedway team based at Central Park will be confirmed on Thursday as the Kent Kings.

Team captain will be former Conference League champion David Mason, who will bring experience to what is expected to be a young rider line-up for the National League season which starts in May. John Sampford moves from Rye House Rockets to be team manager.

Kings commercial manager Neil Day was unable to confirm details ahead of Thursday morning's website launch at www.kentkings.co.uk

But he said: "We have been working hard at the stadium since last November, working on the laying of the track and behind the scenes to secure sponsorship.

"We are keen to work with local Kent companies and there are a number of them that will feature on our website when we launch."

The team badge will feature the Kent horse on a red background with a white crown and Kings will race at Central Park on Monday nights, with the first meeting scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.
