STEVE LOVELL has retained his Kent Messenger Sunshine Challenge golf title in impressive style.

The five-handcapper, a member at Sittingbourne Golf Club, beat Tony Sampson (h9, Redlibetts) 8&7 at Canterbury on Friday in the final of the matchplay competition.

He will now go to Portugal next month and compete against a dozen other regional newspaper winners for the right to be crowned national champion.
