Kent Police close College Road in Margate after ambulance and bus crash

An ambulance has collided with a double decker bus full of schoolchildren in Margate.

At least one parent says her daughter was hurt in the crash near Drapers Mill Primary Academy, along with the bus driver who suffered minor injuries.

The ambulance was on a non-emergency call when the accident happened, transporting a patient to the nearby QEQM Hospital.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said neither the patient nor the crew were injured in the crash.

The spokesman said: "They were pretty shaken up as you would expect, but they were checked over at the hospital."

Another ambulance was called to take the patient - and the crew - the rest of the way to the hospital.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The incident was reported near Drapers Mill Primary Academy in College Road at 2.51pm.

"Apart from the bus driver no further injuries were reported and the road was blocked."
