Kieron McDonald-Gillett slashed mother of his child in Margate leaving her with scar from her ear

A man who was high on cocaine and drink slashed the mother of his child in the face with a kitchen knife in a “jealous drunken rage”.

But it was only when the victim was giving evidence about her nightmare ordeal that Kieron McDonald-Gillett asked for a short adjournment and admitted what he had done.

The 22 year old changed his plea to guilty during the trial at Canterbury Crown Court and admitted wounding the woman with intent.

She was left with a permanent seven centimetre scar from her ear, and nursing a broken bone in her hand. She has since moved out of the area.

The jury was told how he had consumed between 10-15 lines of cocaine before quaffing “a large quantity of beer”.

The court heard the drunken attack happened on a vulnerable woman when her two children were nearby.

Now McDonald-Gillett, of Canterbury Road, Margate, has been jailed for seven years and two months for the attack which was carried out in “a fit of jealousy”.

As he was being led away, his father shouted “three years, son!” before being ushered away screaming four-letter words.

Judge James O’Mahony told him: “In rage, and fuelled by copious amounts of cocaine and drink you threw a can of beer at your former partner.

“Then , in rage, you went to the kitchen and slashed her with a knife, telling her: ‘Look what you made me do!’

“She didn’t make you do that - you did, “ the judge added.

He then smashed the room before “clearing off” leaving his victim nursing the wound.

After running away, he was caught and told police that she deserved it.

Judge O’Mahony said the victim had been “a vulnerable mother at home facing you, jealous with rage and intoxicated.”

McDonald-Gillett was ordered to stay away from his ex-partner indefinitely, after the judge heard she had been scarred “literally and emotionally”.
