Person injured after slipping on rocks on Kent seafront

Reports someone had fallen of a cliff in Broadstairs proved to be a false alarm.

Margate's RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out at lunchtime after UK Coastguard received received information it had happened at the Captain Digby restaurant in Kingsgate.

Coastguard rescue teams from Margate and Deal along with police also responded and it was established the person had in fact merely slipped on the rocks and suffered an ankle injury.

Officers subsequently transported the person to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

Meanwhile, the lifeboat was recalled while en-route to Kingsgate.
