Broadstairs: Emergency services called to Joss Bay after a man fell from the cliffs

A man has been flown to hospital after plunging 70ft from cliffs.

Emergency services including police and the coastguard helicopter were called to Joss Bay, Broadstairs just after 7am after the man suffered serious injuries.

A police spokesman said earlier: "Kent Police was called at 7.11am on Monday 25 September 2017 after a man fell from cliffs in the Joss Bay area.

"Officers are currently in attendance along with colleagues from the ambulance service and coastguard.

"The man has suffered serious injuries and is expected to be airlifted to hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances behind the incident but no crimes have been reported and there is not believed to be any third party involvement."

An ambulance spokesman said: "I can confirm ambulance crews including our Hazardous Area Response Team have attended the scene along with the air ambulance.

"A man with potentially serious injuries has recently been airlifted to King's College Hospital."

Three fire engines were also called to help.

A fire service spokesman added: "KFRS were called at 7.29am to assist at an incident in Crescent Road, Broadstairs.

"Our line rescue team, as well as three fire engines attended, as well as other emergency services including SECAmb."
