Ramsgate: Police investigate after van smashed in Dumpton Park Drive

A service engineer has been left furious after his van window was smashed - meaning a loss of two days of work.

Andy Newman, of Dumpton Park Drive, Ramsgate, woke up this morning to find glass shattered across the front seats of his vehicle.

The 45-year-old says it has caused upset to his young daughter - as well as a repair bill for him.

"Thankfully they must been disturbed because they didn't manage to get any tools and the satnav proved too hard to get off the screen." he said.

"However, I'm going to lose two days work as they can't get the replacement glass until tomorrow, and it's not worth going through insurance because of my no claims discount.

"My little girl was very upset to see the damage and is worried it could happen again."

Mr Newman says his family moved to the area four years ago from London is search of a better life.

He added: "Generally this spate of crime is not good for Thanet.

"We moved from London four years ago to create a better quality of family life."

Police are investigating the report of criminal damage.

A spokesman said: "Overnight between Sunday, June 10 and Monday, June 11, the windows of a van parked in Dumpton Park Drive were smashed.

"Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle."
