Tom Rigden, 27, was one of the residents whose car was targeted.

"I woke up this morning and went down to the car to pop to the shop," he said. "When I walked round, [I saw] this lump of concrete stuck in my back window.

"I thought it may have just been my car that was damaged but a passer-by advised there was another car up the road where the same thing has happened.

"I walked up and saw the owner of the other car with a smashed window.

"She advised there was actually about four cars that have all had their windows smashed and forensics were already on scene.

"I was just angry - not even particularly about my car, but just the situation in general. The poor lady up the road was in her late 70s and didn't need that."

A police spokesperson confirmed they were called this morning following reports three car windows had been smashed overnight - but others may not have reported damage yet.

Officers are investigating and anyone who witnessed the incidents, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage which may assist enquiries, is asked to call police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/192129/21, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, or by using the online form on their website.
