Several homes were evacuated after a fire at a block of flats.

Fire crews were called to Trove Court in Newcastle Hill in Ramsgate at about 6.30pm last night, where they discovered a fire in the building's bin store.

Crews quickly extinguished the blaze using a hose reel jet.

They also used a large ventilation fan to clear smoke from the communal areas of the building.

The fire is believed to have been accidental. There were no reported injuries.
