John Buchanan charged with murder of Michael 'Archie' Ward in Ramsgate

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with murder after another man was allegedly stabbed at a barbecue.

John Buchanan, 21, of St John's Crescent in Ramsgate, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

He is accused of attacking 40-year-old Michael Ward, also known as Archie, in St John's Crescent on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Ward then drove to Bush Avenue in Ramsgate, where he got out of the car and collapsed in the street.

Police and ambulance crews were called at 5pm, but Mr Ward died at the scene. He had suffered a stab wound to the thigh.

Floral tributes and football shirts have since been left at the scene.

Buchanan was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate still want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.
