Police reopen closed section of Northdown Road in Cliftonville after man hit by car

A man has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car this afternoon.

Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene in Northdown Road in Margate at noon.

An air ambulance attended the incident at the Bath Road junction but the patient was driven to the William Harvey hospital with injuries to his head and abdomen.

Vehicles were forced to find alternative routes as the road was partially closed until 1.30pm.

Buses were diverted via Sweyn Road.
