Fire crews tackled a blaze at a children's play area this evening.

Firefighters were called to Northdown Park in Cliftonville at around 7.20pm.

They used a high pressure hose to tackle the blaze, but a small rubber trampoline was destroyed.

Thanet District Council spokesman Hannah Thorpe said: "Our play inspection team is on its way to the site to make this piece of equipment safe and there is no other damage. It will remain open to the public."
