Police cordon off St John's Road in Margate after alleged assault

Police sealed off a road in Margate after a man suffered a head injury in an alleged assault.

Witnesses reported seeing blood splatters on the pavement and blood-soaked towels.

The incident happened at an address near the Holy Trinity and St John's Church of England School and Lawrence Stores in St John's Road.

One man was taken to hospital with a head injury, and another was arrested on suspicion of assault.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a reported assault at a private address in St John's Street, Margate, at 4.11pm on Friday 10 June.

"A man was taken to a local hospital with an injury to his head but he has since been discharged.

"A 28-year-old man from Margate has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Officers are currently at the scene conducting enquiries."

One woman said: "I saw two police cars and the area had been cordoned off.

"There's a blood soaked black and white tea towel next to the blood splattered ground."

It is thought there was a scuffle inside one of the flats.
