Pregnant Jwan Surani, her sister and brother guilty of stabbing her ex 10 times outside Margate home

A pregnant woman who took revenge on the father of her unborn child because she suspected him of being unfaithful has been found guilty of his stabbing.

Jwan Surani recruited her sister and younger brother before luring unsuspecting victim Murat Guzeller from his Margate home.

There they stabbed him 10 times before leaving him in the street covered in blood.

Now a jury at Canterbury Crown Court has convicted all three of wounding with intent - even though the victim failed to show up to say what happened.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Mr Guzeller.

All three Suranis, who had denied taking part in the attack, also failed to take the witness stand to give evidence along with a woman who was expected to provide alibi testimony.

Now they have been remanded in custody while the judge decides what risk they pose in the future.

As the verdicts were announced, Jwan's sister Viyan began sobbing loudly and was ordered by the judge to be quiet. She was later comforted by security staff.

Prosecutor Vivian Walters told a jury at Canterbury Crown Court that the motive for the incident in 2015 was unknown.

“But it is likely to have been her anger at his infidelity and the dishonour that his behaviour brought upon her and her family."

Jwan, 24, sister Viyan and brother Karwan, 18 - all from Chingford - denied wounding Mr Guzeller nearly three years ago with intent to cause him serious harm.

Ms Walters claimed: “The stabbing happened outside Harold Road in Margate on October 25 at around 10pm.

"It is likely to have been her anger at his infidelity and the dishonour that his behaviour brought upon her and her family..." - Prosecutor Vivian Walters said the motive was unknown

“Jwan and her ex-partner had separated but had at the time a 16-month-old daughter and she was seven-months pregnant.

“Mr Gueller states that they had split up and were not in touch, although he was trying to decide if he should give in another go with Jwan for the sake of their daughter and the new child, “ she claimed.

The jury heard a friend of Mr Guzeller woke him to say Jwan was at the house asking to speak to him. She asked if they could talk but wanted to do it outside.”

The prosecutor alleged that as a friend went to take his dog for a walk, Jwan began shouting at her estranged partner “about him having another woman” before slapping his face.

Ms Walters alleged: “He was then grabbed from behind and struggled to break free and ended up in the road.

“He saw it was Viyan who had grabbed him and then caught sight of Karwan who slashed at him with a knife which struck his left-side of his body.

“He realised he had been stabbed and went into shock. Karwan stabbed him again and again as Jwan was shouting and screaming."

Jwan and Viyan then ran to a waiting black Nissan and were joined by Karwan after Mr Gueller had managed to fight him off.

The prosecutor said that Mr Gueller managed to get back to the house “in agony and covered in blood”.

He was taken to QEQM Hospital before being transferred to King’s College Hospital in London and treated for wounds to his shoulder, elbow, chest, thigh and buttocks.

The three will be sentenced in September.
