A tunnel has been shut following an 'IT error'.

Ramsgate Tunnel on the A299 in Royal Harbour Approach has been closed.

The busy route was shut last night and delays are expected in the area.

Kent Highways said: "A299 Ramsgate Tunnel closed until Wednesday morning due to an IT error.

"Please use alternate route and expect delays in the area."

Engineers are enroute to attempt to resolve the problem.
